I believe blood is badly needed and the donors can give much more blood if say sha 5,000 were given to each donor as transport refund. What is shs 5,000 to the loss of life? better think about this given the poverty in that many can not afford the would be basic for a day.

The Uganda Blood Transfusion Secretariat (UBTS) yesterday disclosed the country is experiencing severe blood shortage.
At a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ms Rebecca Kadaga, on the status of ongoing blood donation drive, UBTS Director Dorothy Kyeyune said the shortage is due to the low levels of blood donations in the country and lack of funds to carryout donation drives.
“Although government gives us support, it is not enough. We meet 85 per cent of the blood requirement yet there is increasing need in hospitals around the country,” she said.
Dr Kyeyune said the national blood bank is short of 190,000 units of blood to complete the year. The bank currently has only 10,000 units yet 200,000 units are needed for a year.
Ms Kadaga called on corporate companies and media houses to participate to champion a fresh drive in the country.
However, Dr Kyeyune didn’t divulge whether the shortage is due to the increasing number of causalities of protests.
