Concern About duration to get a Birth Certificate

This is for the attention of the concerned committee and the Minister of Justice as well as Ethics and Integrity.

It disturbs to learn that รข€˜officially one is expected to get a Birth Certificate after three weeks on paying to the bank (shs 7,000), which in itself is a long period of time given that we are in an era where the processing of documents, should take very short time. What is hard to believe is that when one thinks that 3 weeks is long and he waits for that long, it is not abnormal to give him/her another week. This type of inefficiency is what actually promotes corruption. When you get to this office at Amamu House you are first asked whether you are in a hurry, if you are; then they can help process your things in a record time! For those of us who are not ready to bribe, looks like we shall continue suffering the consequences of come tomorrow, come the other day; it really disgusts. What on earth do these people have to do for three weeks when one gets proof to them of the birth particulars?

Uganda Registration Services Bureau should ensure that delay to get Birth Certificates is not deliberate to have people bribe them. By copy of this, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General is informed as well as Hon. (Dr. James Nsaba Butulo) as well as the Assistant Registrar General, Mr. Bisereko Kyomuhendo.
