WE SHOULD ENSURE THAT DRIVERS ARE NOT ON PHONE WHILE ON ROAD

Recently, a relative of mine overturned a car he was driving simply because he had the attention on phone as the vehicle moved on. In Uganda much more needs to be done to educate our drivers because to many, it is like they are not sure of the consequences until the accident happens. It is so common to see drivers with a mobile, not only do they receive calls but even make selection of numbers to dial. Surely, the law should catch up with these people. We need to stop the arrogance and being proud make show simply because they own a machine! We have too many dependants a good number as a result of road accidents which could be greatly reduced if safety measures were enforced. Uganda Government should tighten on those who abuse 'the does on the road.'
It is also a common experience to see 'sleeping drivers'given the way they behave on the road. We need to be more responsible people.
Can we stop scenes like the one below of a family of 4 perishing instantly? We need to put more sense when on the road.

MABIRA ACCIDENT VICTIMS FUNERAL SERVICE AT ALL SAINTS CHURCH
All saints Cathedral Nakasero held a Funeral Service on Monday 3rd October for the family which perished in Mabira Accident on Saturday.

The Mirembes at the All saints Alter
The many mourners shed tears as the funeral service officials brought in four coffins and placed them at the alter!
Many did not believe the incident that their beloveds had perished in the accident.
At the Funeral Service we got to know that Kirabo’s sibling brother only identified as Baguma also died in the accident.
There were several speakers at the mass. Friends, relatives and colleagues were given a chance to speak and appreciate the life of the Mirembes
Mirembe was described as a calm , collected, a profession and a man of solid character. The bank contributed shs 15 million to the burial expenses.
The family met the accident at Najjembe in Mabira when their Toyota Hiace was crushed by a trailer which lost control after hitting a pothole. The accident happened at around 8:00pm on Saturday.
The family was from a picnic with their Kenyan friends on the River Nile Banks.
