UGANDA’S CHARM LIES IN ITS IMPRESSIVE VARIETY OF WILDLIFE SPECIES AND STUNNING SCENERY

Part of the Article content is from: Pearls of Uganda Post (July – December 2011) The constraint which Uganda currently has in its effort to live like the real Pearl of Africa is politics. When President Museveni gets the vision for the country as one with sure succession of top leadership, the country will start on a well paved road to prosperity and sure exploitation of its being a Pearl of Africa. Museveni can only do this by seeing himself out of power not later than 2016. The President would have done better if he had a PhD in development economics, may be that way he would have the facts why people concerned about the future of the country want him out of power. Museveni has been advised to reduce on the administrative budget, but trust him, he simply continues to increase the budget and surely the country will continue on the downward. Lonely Planet Publication named Uganda the top country destination in the world for 2012, however, all this can make better sense if the country’s politics is acceptable by international standards. There are people who have no deal with countries that have failed to be democratic by acceptable standards. Countries as were ranked in order, “Voted for by a panel of in-house travel experts, based on topicality, excitement, value and that special X-factor.” Countries as voted from the 1st were: Uganda, Myanmar (Burma), Ukraine, Jordan, Denmark, Bhutan, Cuba, New Caledonia, Taiwan and Switzerland. The announcement of Uganda being the Top Tourist Destination for 2012 was graced with a picture of Mountain Gorillas in the wild and stated that, “Reviewers say that Uganda’s charm lies in its impressive variety of wildlife species and stunning scenery. In addition to boosting Africa’s largest variety of bird species, Uganda is also renowned for its primate species including the endangered mountain gorilla, which has become one of Uganda’s finest tourist attractions. Over half of the world’s remaining population of mountain gorilla’s live here at Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Lonely Planets noted that Uganda is the source of River Nile, where ‘savannah meets the vast lakes of East Africa, and where snow-capped mountains bear down on sprawling jungles …’ Asked why the publication chose Uganda as its top destination for the next year, Lonely Planet Editor Tom Hall said, It’s quite simple with Uganda – we think that it’s some where that has so much that you can go to see in Africa in a small package.
