The ruling National Resistance Movement Parliamentary caucus executive has denied allegations that there are several party MPs who have been blacklisted by the party on allegations of not following the party principles and regulations.
NRM chief whip, Kabakumba Masiko, who was addressing journalists at Parliament today, was reacting to media reports that 57 rebel MPs have been listed by State Minister of Local Government, Hope Mwesigye as those who go against the partys positions.
Masiko says that there are no rebel MPs in the NRM caucus and the term rebel was coined by the media.
She however notes that there are some errant MPs who have persisted on going against the partys agreed positions and address important issues in the wrong forum.
On being asked questions on why the caucus executive denies the rebel MPs the opportunity to express themselves in the caucus, Masiko says that the caucus is always open and everyone is allowed to discuss feely.
She says that some of these errant MPs have taken it upon themselves to speak on behalf of the party yet the executive exists.
Masiko adds that some of the actions of individual MPs should not be taken to be the opinions and actions of the NRM caucus.
The chief whip called upon the media to always check their facts with the NRM caucus executive before reporting false stories.
