BANANA STEMS ARE A RICH SOURCE OF CHEAPER AND HIGH QUALITY PAPER AND CLOTH

Source: The Science Times (December 2011 – February 2012) Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI), a Government unit under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, has for 3 – 5 years now researched on the Banana plant to make cheap and high quality cloth and paper from its stems and pulp. UIRI has on many occasions especially during National Science Weeks demonstrated how pulp is extracted from the stem and refined to get paper and cloth.
